Mission
The training and workshops are based on more than twenty years of experience in the use of magic to support vulnerable children by the magicians of the Magic Care foundation.
These experiences, combined with recent insights into the effect of shocking events on the well-being of children and scientific research by Professor Richard Wiseman, among others, give the resulting Magic4Care Academy a solid foundation.
Magic Care Foundation
Magic Care is a charity run by volunteer magicians. The main goal of Magic Care is to teach magic tricks to children in need, as a way to empower children and build self-confidence. Magic Care’s stress reduction techniques have a proven track record with children dealing with serious illness, disabilities or a challenging family background. The Magic Care Foundation offers its award-winning program in hospitals, asylum seeker centers and in schools in the inner city.
Magic Care was founded more than 20 years ago and has reached an audience of thousands of children. There are currently approximately fifty magicians involved with Magic Care, some of whom have achieved national or even global recognition. On average, Magic Care has about three hundred performances per year (in the Netherlands). Magicians who work for Magic Care receive rigorous ongoing training and have been vetted by the Department of Justice. Magic Care is a non-profit entity, donations are the only source of income.
Magic4Care Academy
Magic4Care is an academy for the transmission of magic tricks, open to any professional who works with children (such as in healthcare, education and social work). Magic4Care’s mission is to train professionals so that they can then perform magic tricks themselves for their respective target groups. In specialized workshops and training, Magic4Care trainers teach participants the basics of magic. The unique benefits of the Magic4Care approach include tools to reduce stress and anxiety levels and increase self-confidence.
The Magic4Care curriculum is based on established therapeutic norms and values. During 2023-2025, Magic4Care will further enhance its domestic business while preparing for its EU launch by early 2026. Magic4Care is in the process of receiving full government accreditation, with the aim of reaching as many vulnerable children as possible through the art of magic.
